The Centre for Foreign Language Teaching is one of the University of Warsaw units providing foreign language instruction within the University System of Language Provision (USNJO). Information about language courses conducted at the UW can also be found on the website of the Coordinating Council for Foreign Language Teaching and Language Proficiency Certification.
Before the start of each semester, the CNJO language course offer is published on the Token Registration website. Language courses conducted by CNJO have codes starting with 4024.
Offer and languages
Course descriptions on the Token Registration website include information about the target level, profile, learning outcomes, dates, location, number of hours, number of ECTS credits, course content, and coursebook. - For traditional and blended courses, a student registered for the winter semester is usually automatically registered for the summer semester, unless they manually unenroll from the course during the registration period for the next semester.
- A student can only participate once in an e-course at a given level designated with the same code. The designations 1.a and 1.b suggest the sequence of courses within the same level.

Course registration
Registration for a language course takes place in two stages:
1. Placement test
If you are registering for an English, French, Spanish, German, Russian, or Italian course at the B1 level or higher for the first time, you must take an online placement test. The test result will help you choose a group at the appropriate level.

Where to take the test? The test is taken on the Kampus platform. After logging in, enter your PESEL number as your ID and the password generated by your dean’s office.
Before registration: Make sure in USOSweb that your test result has already been transferred to the system. Only after it appears will you be able to proceed with selecting a language group at the appropriate level.

Intensive courses
During the winter and summer breaks, CNJO organizes intensive language courses of 30 or 60 hours. They are open to UW students and other interested individuals (also from outside the University of Warsaw). Upon completion of the course, UW students can obtain a passing grade and ECTS credits.
The detailed offer is published on the Token Registration website at the end of the winter and summer semesters. Information is also provided by the student office staff.
Passing requirements
At the beginning of each semester, the teacher informs students about the detailed passing requirements, in accordance with the guidelines below. These rules should also be provided in the course description in USOSweb. If the passing requirements were not presented or you missed the first class, please contact the teacher.
The prerequisite for passing the courses described below is prior registration for the classes in accordance with the registration rules.
- If a student met the course requirements (e.g., attendance) but did not achieve the required academic results, they receive a failing grade and retain the right to retake the exam in the upcoming make-up session.
- If a student did not meet the course requirements (e.g., exceeded the absence limit), no grade is issued and there is no possibility of passing the semester in the make-up session.

Traditional language courses – 60 and 30 hours
Classes are held in person, and attendance is mandatory. Absences exceeding the permitted limit must be excused or made up according to the teacher’s requirements, provided in the syllabus or during the first class.

To obtain a passing grade, the student must demonstrate achievements in each category. A score of 0% in any of the above categories results in failing the course.
Blended language courses
The course includes 30 hours of in-class sessions and 30 hours of asynchronous classes on the Kampus or Moodle platform. Attendance at in-class sessions is mandatory. A maximum of 2 unexcused absences is allowed per semester.

The student must obtain at least 60% from the exercises on the platform and at least 60% from the final test. To obtain a passing grade, achievements must be demonstrated in each category (a score of 0% in any category prevents passing).
For passing the entire course (60 hours), the student receives 2 ECTS.
E-courses (majority online teaching)
E-courses include in-class sessions and asynchronous classes on the Kampus platform.
Conditions for admission to the final test:
- minimum 60% attendance at in-class sessions,
- minimum 60% of points for mandatory tasks on the Kampus platform.

At least 60% of points must be obtained from the final test. If a student does not achieve the required score from platform tasks or does not meet the attendance requirement, they are not admitted to the final test and fail the course.
If a student met the platform and attendance requirements but did not obtain 60% from the final test, they have the right to a retake in the next session.
To obtain a passing grade, the student must demonstrate achievements in each category (a score of 0% in any category prevents passing). For passing the course, the student receives 2 ECTS.
Fully online language courses
Classes are conducted entirely online on the university’s Kampus platform.
