The University of Warsaw offers an extraordinary opportunity to undertake Foundation Year, an intensive one-year preparatory course in the English language aimed at secondary school graduates and university graduates from all over the world. The aim of the program is to enable international students to start degree programmes in English in a chosen field of social studies, humanities, or science at the University of Warsaw.

FOUNDATION YEAR COURSE CONTRACT
English Language Course – University of Warsaw

All Foundation Year participants are expected to read the rules below carefully and follow them throughout the course. If your teacher asks you to do so, please make a copy of this contract, sign it and return it to your teacher.

By participating in the Foundation Year English course, I agree to:

  • Read the information about the Foundation Year programme available on the website of the Centre for Foreign Language Teaching.
  • Familiarise myself with the course schedule, requirements and assessment rules at the beginning of the course.
  • Obtain any course books or other materials required by the teacher as early as possible and at my own expense.
  • Attend classes regularly. Absence is acceptable in the case of illness, an emergency or other justified circumstances.
  • If I miss a class, find out what material was covered and catch up on the work I have missed. If required, I will provide appropriate documentation for my absence.
  • Respect copyright and the principles of academic integrity. I will not submit another person’s work as my own and will properly acknowledge any sources used in written assignments. Cases of suspected plagiarism may be reported in accordance with University regulations and may affect successful completion of the course.
  • Take part in tests and other forms of assessment required during the course.
  • Arrive on time for tests and assessments. Late arrival may result in being unable to take a test or receiving no points for it, unless there are justified exceptional circumstances.
  • Come to class prepared, bring the required course book, handouts or other materials, and complete homework and other assignments on time.
  • Participate actively and respectfully in classroom activities, including pair work, group work, role-plays and simulations.
  • Use English as much as possible during class and make a genuine effort to communicate with other participants in English.
