9th meeting of the directors of university language teaching centres

On November 13, 2023, the ninth meeting of university language teaching centre directors took place as part of the FOR-UNI forum series. This gathering brought together directors and representatives from the University of Gdańsk, Jagiellonian University, University of Rzeszów, Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin, Jan Kochanowski University in Kielce, and the University of Warsaw, which served as the host for the event. The meeting aimed to facilitate the exchange of experiences in language centre management and to address current issues related to language proficiency certification. A focal point of the discussion revolved around the potential inclusion of mediation tasks in oral exams designed to confirm language proficiency. As part of the dissemination of results from the Mediation in Language Learning and Teaching project, conducted at the Center for Foreign Language Teaching at the University of Warsaw, project leaders shared insights into the project’s assumptions, progression, and outcomes. Additionally, the participants were acquainted with the pedagogical innovations offered by the NGL publishing house in the field of teaching English for Academic Purposes.
